Maine WoodWorks, part of Creative Work Systems, has just launched a new line of hand-rubbed, stained furniture, which complements their popular, fully customizable cottage-style pieces available throughout New England. Maine WoodWorks trains and employs an integrated workforce that includes people with disabilities. All proceeds from the sale of Maine WoodWorks furniture help further the CWS mission.

Coming from a long lineage of woodworkers, Michael Perkins of Vintage Perkins inherited a love for creating fine custom furniture and vintage interiors from reclaimed wood. Perkins and his wife, Edie, recently opened TP Perkins & Co. in Brunswick. The store will feature Perkins’s handcrafted furniture as well as antiques and accessories for home, camp, and cottage.

Bucksport architect John Gordon won two prestigious awards at the nationwide AIA 2011 Architectural Photography Competition. His photograph entitled Fenway Wedge won the A1 Fuller Award, and his other submission won an honorable mention. Gordon is an award-winning architect, a former president of AIA Maine, and a passionate photographer.

Husband and wife Evan Carroll and Sasha Salzberg are launching their own architecture firm in Portland. Informed by the utilitarian needs, aesthetic concerns, and social implications of architecture, Bild Architecture is currently focusing on residences, urban housing, and small commercial projects.
