Aerin Lauder grew up sleeping over at this house. Her grandmother, Estée Lauder, spent weekends and vacations here, and Aerin remembers walking from her parents’ house to the 1930s Greek Revival that she now calls home. The interiors have since been adapted for a more contemporary feel, but Aerin worked to keep her grandmother’s creative vision throughout. “I tried to embrace what my grandmother had done but with a fresh twist,” she says in Summer to Summer by Jennifer Ash Rudick (Vendome Press, 2020). In the kitchen, Aerin preserved Estée’s beloved blue and white color scheme, keeping the space bright and airy. Pops of color come through artwork and pottery, while vintage Frances Elkins Loop chairs modernize the decor.
