Comfortable Elegance

Striking the perfect balance between elegance and comfort can be tricky. Interior designer Campion Platt walks the line in this sitting room designed for his wife, Tatiana. She had always wanted a classic white loft, but Platt had a bigger vision. He agreed to stick with white walls and floors, but he also integrated his own sense of color and style to create a space that was both livable and chic. Platt intended for the space to be sophisticated but says, “It’s also designed with children in mind—with durable fabrics, plenty of storage, and pleasing decorative objects that aren’t too precious or breakable” (Making Rooms Your Own, Rizzoli 2019). Bright decor paired with white furniture and metal accents help to keep the space airy and fun. Accent chairs with a pop of color or texture add dimension to the space without feeling overwhelming.
