Building Up
This oceanside property in Belfast has spectacular views and had been admired by the clients for several years before they had the opportunity to become the owners. The design work by Phi Builders + Architects will transform the one-story residence into a two-story shingle style cottage that “exudes cozy charm.” Interior finishes will include reclaimed eastern white pine floors and locally quarried stone veneer for the fireplace to pay tribute to Maine’s coastal landscape.
This design-build project is a large-scale renovation. The original structure will be stripped down to the foundation and first-floor framing. A new screened porch and waterside deck complement the plans for a second-floor addition and covered entry. The new exterior spaces are designed to optimize outdoor living while protecting the shoreland setbacks.
