Bridging the Glade
THE DRAWING BOARD – September 2014
Kaplan Thompson Architects’ clients dreamed of a house that would gently bridge across the ledges of their forest glade and reach out towards the waters of Harpswell Sound. A poetry studio and sleeping porch at the prow of the building cantilevers dramatically outward, sheltering a wood deck under its edge. The 2,400-square-foot house is projected to be Net-Zero in energy use, with a full fresh air ventilation system and natural materials throughout.
