1.) In March THOS. MOSER opened a showroom in the Georgetown neighborhood of Washington, D.C., where its Handmade American Furniture is displayed as pieces of art in a gallery setting. Maine senators Susan Collins and Angus King, Maine congressman Bruce Poliquin, staff from the Maine-based Thos. Moser, including CEO Bill McGonagle, and more than 200 VIP guests, customers, and media representatives were present to celebrate the opening as well as Tom Moser’s 80th birthday.
2.) The FARNSWORTH ART MUSEUM has secured funding to begin major capital improvements to both its Rockland and Cushing properties. Comprehensive facility upgrades will include roof repairs, environmental climate systems, and other critical improvements. This campus overhaul will require the closing of the Olson House to visitors for the season for structural upgrades and improvements. In addition, these funds will provide for the expansion of one of the museum’s most important free community educational programs, Stories of the Land and Its People, making this arts-integrated school initiative available to more public school students than ever before.
3.) SCOTT SIMONS ARCHITECTS is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. The firm has worked on a variety of projects over the years, including the Portland Public Library, the Casco Bay Lines Ferry Terminal, and the Hanscom Hall renovation at Gould Academy. In honor of its anniversary, the firm also launched a new website, simonsarchitects.com.
