Defined Design
Creating a seamless open floor plan within a small interior can be difficult. As Anthony Iannacci discusses in New York Design at Home (Abrams, 2019), using bold, geometric forms is an effortless way to highlight distinct areas within an open floor plan. A circular rug defines the living area, and a large, woven wall panel establishes the dining area. Matching cabinets on either side of the wall panel help to maintain visual boundaries. To keep the space comfortable and inviting, mix antique and vintage furniture in warm tones, metals, and fabrics, and complement them with lush, earth-toned linens and leathers.
