Suite Dreams

styleroom_banksSTYLE ROOM-July 2011

by Linda Banks

The natural beauty of Maine attracts so many who seek retreat here. When you have a home in Maine, be prepared for a constant stream of guests—especially in the summer. My biggest inspiration comes from my clients and the locations of their homes. We spend a lot of time talking about how they live in their homes, who their friends and family are, what is important to them. We then work with them to provide a beautiful, comfortable space that is timeless. When we design a guest suite, there are several key elements to take into consideration: An inviting, comfortable bed with lots of good pillows and bedding. A chest of drawers to put away their things. A comfortable chair to relax and read in. Good lighting by the bed. A carafe of water and a glass. A room-size rug to quiet the room and soften the space is important. One of the best things about owning a home in Maine is being able to share all the things we love about our state with friends and family.
