PSA & MIDA Host the Beaux Arts Ball

An evening of entertainment for the Portland design community

Organized by the Portland Society for Architecture (PSA) and Maine Interior Design Association (MIDA), the Beaux Arts Ball is a modern take on the annual costume party thrown by Parisian design students to celebrate the end of the spring semester. Architects, interior designers, and creatives from the Portland design community gathered at the Portland Museum of Art for an evening of fun featuring a building-inspired costume contest, an expansive taco bar from Bird and Company, drinks served by the Black Tie Company, and music by Moonshake and DJ Ben Spalding. Exposure Lighting and Zachau Construction sponsored the event, and MH+D was the media sponsor.

“After a few years on hiatus during the pandemic, the Beaux Arts Ball made a triumphant return, bringing hope and creativity to our community. Cohosted by PSA and MIDA, the event showcased our local design community with imaginative costumes in the theme of ‘expansion’ and a vibrant atmosphere to connect and let loose with friends and colleagues.

We’re grateful to everyone who made this event possible, from the organizers to the volunteers. The event was originally scheduled for the fall but fell on the day after the tragic events in Lewiston. We’re grateful that our collective board members were able to help redirect the already-prepared food to support Lewiston’s first responders in their time of need. Let’s carry this spirit of solidarity forward, lighting the way to a brighter future for all.”
