Portland-based architect PAUL LEWANDOWSKI, principal of SMRT, has been named a finalist in the Mannington tx:style carpet design competition. Drawing inspiration from the natural beauty of his home state, Lewandowski’s design is a composite of striated coastal rock and images of the Maine forests.

Artist KATHERINE BRADFORD was recently honored with a highly prestigious Guggenheim Fellowship Award. Bradford first came to Maine in the late 1960s, and since that time she has become a nationally renowned artist and professor of art. Now based in New York, she returns to Maine each summer.

On July 14, the SCHOODIC INTERNATIONAL SCULPTURE SYMPOSIUM will hold a House Tour to benefit the organization. Eight homes in Sorrento and Sullivan will be open to the public. Maine architects Bob Knight, Bruce Norelius, and Todd Stanley—designers of four of the eight homes—will accompany the tour to answer questions and share their thoughts. World-renowned bonsai artist COLIN LEWIS recently relocated his nursery and studio from western Massachusetts to southern Maine. Lewis will offer a seminar and exhibit his work at the Blackrock Farm on August 11. Through November, he will offer total immersion courses at his studio in Kennebunkport.
