“I have been wanting to freshen up my bedroom for ages. Piece of a cake for a designer, right? Wrong! It is easy for me to help my clients decorate their homes, but with each new project I fall in love with something new, making it tough for me to commit in my own home. The products I’ve selected here have stolen my heart for their beauty, quality, and timeless appeal, and I keep returning to them when I contemplate changing my bedroom. I adore mixing patterns and layering textures, and the secret to making this work is sticking with a consistent color scheme. The palette leans toward the feminine, while the hard surfaces are masculine—making the room equally inviting to men and women. The paint color is one of my favorite go-to colors for bedrooms. It’s a warm, calming color that is complementary to a person’s complexion, making our morning face look a little better! The coral in the fabrics and the rug is a hip, sophisticated older sister to pink. I like to incorporate a sense of place in my designs, a ‘seaside chic.’ The headboard and chair are both made from natural fibers found by the sea, while the distressed finish on the cottage-style bedside tables and dresser reminds me of how our salty air and fresh winds weather wood. The balance of matte and sheen, rough and soft textures, metals and reflective surfaces are all elements that I like to play with and am drawn to.”
