Inspired by rustic cabins around the lake, diagonal sheathing was used on the interior walls. It creates visual interest, but like most features of these cabins, it was “done for a structural reason, not just an effect,” says architect Phil Kaplan: “diagonal boards serve as bracing as well
as sheathing,” creating “inherent stability.”
