Scheerer decided to use splatter-print wallpaper (Splatter by Hinson) for the boy’s room, which is
often associated with Nantucket but felt suitably coastal for the Maine home. The most blatant tribute to the state
comes in the form of a flag that Scheerer draped over the back of the four-poster bed. “That was a quick and easy
decorating touch,” Scheerer reflects. “We wanted this room to have a nautical, almost military feel.”
