I I wanted this dining room to feel warm and inviting, so the colors were important. I am influenced by color, always. I started with the rug and then the fabric. The gold tones in the rug and soft sheen of the grasscloth make it shine like a little jewel box. When it comes to fabric, it has to be soft. The drapery fabric I chose is Oscar de la Renta’s new Home Fabric Collection in the Kublai Khan print. The Ink Dish china color plays nicely with the blue hues of the fabric choice. Right now, I’m really into blue.

I wanted to keep the room simple; the table and chairs are very minimal allowing everything else to shine through. Candle power adds that certain ambience to the dinner table. I love the multicandle glass candelabra and the way the light reflects on the dessert bowls. I really like to mix things up and inject the unexpected into the design element. Most of my clients have traveled the world and want to incorporate their collectibles into their design scheme, so with that I am constantly thinking about objects from a different perspective. I like to keep my designs clean and simple, which is what Maine is all about.
