In the 1920s, owners Katherine and Horace Hildreth—a Maine governor and U.S. ambassador to Pakistan—installed an oceanfront pool, wooden pier, and flower and vegetable gardens on the property. Seasons Downeast Designs in Rockport now maintains the lush grounds.
