Tina and Rob Souza have deep ties to
Kennebunk. (Rob went to high school in
town.) When they bought their historic
Maine home, they knew they wanted to
leave the exterior mostly intact but open
up the interior. “We have a very modern
aesthetic, but we wanted to pay tribute to
the house,” says Tina. “We tried to find a
middle ground—we wanted modern, clean,
crisp but also summery and beachy.” The
flooring is prefinished engineered wide
paneled oak, and the painting on the far
wall is by Ingunn Milla Joergensen.
