To create a sense of calm on the exterior of the home and barn, architects Steven and Wiebke Theodore chose smooth, tongue-and-groove cedar siding and steel roofing in a matching weathered gray shade. The red window frames “bring out the green in the landscape, making it look greener,” says Steven, referring to a technique famously employed by Frank Lloyd Wright in his Pennsylvania “Fallingwater” home.
