Furnishing the main bedroom, with its wall of glass and limited width—just enough for a queen-size bed at one end—took considerable thought. Clothes are stored in a small closet with built-in shelves and in low Ikea chests lined up at the base of the bed. Everything else was built for the space: a platform bed with storage drawers for linen, bookshelves, night tables, and a small desk in the pointed end of the room, all designed and built by Gekas, who started his career as a journeyman cabinetmaker. “Wearing just tee shirts, jeans, and bathing suits all summer cuts down on the need for more storage space,” says the homeowner.
